Based on the “Yoga Sutras of Patañjali“. Patañjali was basically the original “mind coach” of yoga. His Yoga Sutras are short little wisdom lines that help us understand our thoughts, handle stress better, and feel more grounded — on and off the mat.
April - "Clearing the Clutter"
This month think about: Clearing the Clutter (Saucha = Purity & Cleanliness)
We practice Saucha out of love and respect for ourselves and our surroundings.
How do we implement this?…..
- We maintain a clean and inspiring environment so we feel more at peace, more creative, and less distracted.
- We practice yoga so we can honour and maintain our physical health and wellbeing. We honour our bodies by also maintaining a healthy diet, putting love and intention into our food to promote our health. The idea is that when we take care of our physical body, we have more room for spiritual thought and compassion.
- We meditate to cleanse our minds and open our hearts. This gives us the power to release thoughts that are negative, distracting, or hurtful. When we cultivate a sense of clearness in the mind it trickles into well being and contentment in our daily life.
- We practice purity in our actions, patience, good listening, open communication, and loving acceptance. That means being careful of gossiping, cursing, or speaking badly about others. It also includes the kind of language we use about ourselves.
- We might need to consider if we need to communicate firmer boundaries or make an effort to spend more time together. Perhaps, we need to implement some reconciliation or forgiveness with the people in our life?
Saucha calls us to strive for purity within the mind, body, and spirit. Saucha wants us to be free from the clutter of distraction. It wants us to create internal clarity so that we can meet each moment with purpose.
Enjoy a Quote:
“Keep your space clear, and your mind will follow.” — Marie Kondo
Practise:
Imagine yourself by a river. As you exhale, imagine dropping a worry or a negative thought into the water, watching it float away.
Pair this with the affirmation: “I release what no longer serves me to make space for light”.
Memorize a mini poem:
I clear what feels heavy.
Space invites new light to enter.
My “no” is sacred.
My “yes” is gold
Repeat an Affirmation:
I release what drains me and keep what fuels me.
