Based on the “Yoga Sutras of Patañjali“. Patañjali was basically the original “mind coach” of yoga. His Yoga Sutras are short little wisdom lines that help us understand our thoughts, handle stress better, and feel more grounded — on and off the mat.
March - "Clear the Fog"
This month think about: Calming the busy mind (Yoga sutra 1.2 Yogaś citta vṛtti nirodhaḥ = “Yoga is calming the fluctuations of the mind.”)
March brings movement — and often, a busy mind. Plans, to-do lists, worries, conversations replaying… it can all feel a little crowded!
This sutra gently reminds us that yoga isn’t about stopping our thoughts. It’s about not getting pulled into every story they tell.
When we practise being the observer — noticing a thought without immediately believing it — something shifts. The thought can move through us instead of taking over. The emotion softens. The space inside us widens.
We are not the chatter.
We are the awareness behind it.
Enjoy a Quote:
“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.” — Ram Dass
Practise:
Bring your attention to your hands.
Notice the temperature.
The tingling.
The subtle pulse or sensation in your fingertips.
When we lean fully into feeling, the mind naturally quietens.
Thoughts lose their grip because awareness has moved into the body.
Memorize a mini poem:
I am the wide sky.
Thoughts drift like passing clouds.
I remain open
Repeat an Affirmation:
I notice my thoughts without becoming them.
